Framing for paintings in Lewes
Paintings are a large part of what I frame at the studio, from small watercolours to large canvases, for artists, collectors and anyone framing something they love.
Canvases and boards often suit a tray frame, where the painting sits inside a slim hardwood frame with a small gap around it, so the edges are seen and nothing is covered. Traditional mouldings in oak, walnut or painted finishes work well too, with or without glass.
Watercolours, gouache and other works on paper are framed with conservation mountboard and UV protective glass, to keep them flat and protect them from fading.
I can also re-glaze, repair or refresh an existing frame. Bring the painting into the studio at the Needlemakers and we can look at the options together.

❋ What I frame
I frame a wide range of work, including photographs, editioned prints, paintings, drawings, works on paper, textiles, family photographs, keepsakes, children’s artwork, found objects, fragile pieces and artworks for exhibitions, homes and interiors.
❋ Materials & finish
I work with carefully chosen materials, including hardwood mouldings, conservation mountboard, spacers, floating mounts, box frames and specialist glazing.
Where needed, I can advise on UV protective glass, anti-reflective glass, deeper frames, object supports and other options to help preserve and present the work properly.
The aim is always the same: to make something that feels quietly right for the piece.
