Apiary is a shadow space, reflecting a contemporary moment where ideas of democracy, identity and cohesion feel stretched to breaking point. Yes, the book is looks at Bonfire night in Lewes, but this is merely the backdrop, that allowed me to explore some of the themes and ideas I’ve been struggling with over the past decade or so. Democracy is fragile and Apiary explores some of these ideas by posing the question what if? It’s not the final curtain call, just a little peak behind it.
